Today hubby went to register a school for Sharlene. It's a chinese school. Hubby and I have decided to register her in this school some time ago and are awaiting the actual date of registration in the beginning of this year. The date of registration starts from 2.3.2009 and we came to know about it from a parent in Sharlene’s kindy two days ago.
The documents required for the registration are:-
1. a copy of birth certificate and the original cert for verification purposes;
2. a copy of utility bill; and
3. a self-addressed envelope with a RM0.50 stamp affixed on it, for purpose of sending to us the confirmation letter.
According to hubby, the process was pretty fast as he only needs to fill in 2 forms and submits the above documents. After everything was confirmed in order, a verification chop was then stamped onto the back of the original birth cert with a registration number 61/2011. And that's about all!
Sharlene didn’t really know what’s going on when I told her just now that she’s going to a ‘big’ school when she’s 7 yo. But once I said that she’ll be going to the same school as her beloved piao cheh, her reaction was totally different. Very happy, of course!
I can't wait for the day she enters the 'big' school but on the other hand, I really couldn’t believe it that my little girl is going to enter primary 1 in another 2 years time.

Life changes so fast... It feels nostalgic to see your kids grow so fast... congrats on getting the admission in your favorite school..
wow, that's fast. my girl is going to P1 next year (Year 2010) and our registration will start somewhere in Jul. how come you have to register 2 years early ah?
Ling, this is how the system here works....have to register 2 yrs before the actual schooling year. Obviously, the Government here needs a longer time to process the admission application.
Good choice of selecting chinese school. i studied in chiense school before.
Yes, time really flies. I also can't believe that my #1 will enter Std. 1 next year.
aiyor, must register 2 yrs in advance ah... keng hor... big girl de :)
It's great if they both attend the same 'big' schl. It won't be so daunting for Sharlene, esp at the beginning. How many yrs older is Jasmine? Does the schl hv 2 sessions? Wondering if they'll be in the same session.
I will also enroll my kids to Chinese school. :) It is so easy to get into Chinese school? Always get to know that Chinese schools are full house..
I have no clue that we have to register 2 yrs before..hehe. I learnt something new now. :P It's better that Sharlene enrolled in the same school as her cousin sister. :)
Rachel: I really hope that I've made the right choice for my gal.
Ginie: Sharlene's cousin sis is 3 yrs older than her. Yes, the sch. has 2 sessions. Std. 1 & 2 in the afternoon session and Std. 3-6 in morning session. Meaning to say both the gals will not be in the same session.
Wah... have to book a seat two year in advance ar ?
If I am not mistaken, you said Sharlene is more interested in speaking in English than Mandarin. So I believe with sending her to a chinese school, is a good option.
61/2011. The 61 means..?
Jess: yes, it's 2 yrs in advance. Very early hor.. It's better to register earlier so that your kids can secure a place in the chosen schl.
Joanne: Sharlene always prefers to converse in Eng. Lately, I noticed that she has vast improvement in her spoken Mandarin too. I'm hoping she can speak fluent Mandarin very soon.
Btw, #61 stands for the number of applicants/students in the schl. Shar was applicant #61 on the other day.
So glad to know that Sharlene has showed improvement in speaking mandarin. I am sure mommy also has done a lot of hard work in this.
Ok, now I know what is no. 61. :-)
wow can register so fast ah?
