Do you want to know what's in the box? Let me tell you - It's mooncakes but not the traditional ones or the snow skin type - its fruit paste sugar free mooncake from Taiwan. One of our neighbours who has been giving us mooncakes every year, presented this box of sugar free cakes to us a few weeks ago. All of us were captivated by the impressive packaging and were very eager to look at the contents. Without much hesitation, I untied the ribbon and lifted the box cover.....oh! I was totally amazed to look at the miniature mooncakes inside the box.
....Take a look here...
See, so cute and small right....and that was really the smallest mooncakes I have ever seen, weighing 48g each. There are altogether 8 pieces of mini mooncakes in the box. The stuffing of the sugar free fruit moon cake is made from selected Taiwan grown products, such as tomatoes, mangoes, passion fruits and cranberries. My favourite one is Green tea Adzuki bean (red bean and green tea flavor) as opposed to the fruity flavors. Nothing really great and special about this sugar free cakes except for being sugar free. For me, I still prefer traditional mooncakes and jelly mooncakes like the one here......
Delicious jelly mooncakes with assorted fillings of cendol, yam, sweet corn and red bean.
Although the moon cake festival is over, we are still having plenty of mooncakes at home. We've been stuffing ourselves with mooncakes every night but no one seems to like the pretty sugar free mooncakes or even take a second look at it. Hence, the box of mooncakes is still sitting in the dining area waiting for someone to bite on.
